Bill Deal & The Rhondels were an American musical group formed in 1965 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The band was known for their blue-eyed soul sound, combining elements of rhythm and blues with rock and roll. Bill Deal was the lead vocalist and played the organ, while the Rhondels consisted of a rotating lineup of musicians who played various instruments like saxophone, trumpet, guitar, bass, and drums.


One of their most famous songs, "May I," was released in 1969 and reached number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band's popularity peaked in the late 1960s and early 1970s, with other hits such as "What Kind of Fool Do You Think I Am" and "I've Been Hurt." Bill Deal & The Rhondels continued to perform and record music throughout the 1970s and 1980s before disbanding in the early 1990s. They left a lasting legacy in the music industry, particularly in the genre of blue-eyed soul.
