Artist Bio:
Bill Doggett was an American jazz and R&B pianist and organist, best known for his hit instrumental song "Honky Tonk." Born in Philadelphia in 1916, Doggett began his musical career as a pianist in the 1930s before switching to the organ in the 1940s. He joined the Lucky Millinder Orchestra in the late 1940s and later became the musical director for the vocal group the Ink Spots.


In 1956, Doggett released "Honky Tonk," which became a massive hit, reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and number one on the R&B chart. The song's infectious groove and catchy melody made it a classic in the instrumental R&B genre. Doggett continued to record and perform throughout the 1960s and 1970s, earning a reputation as a skilled and versatile musician. He passed away in 1996, leaving behind a legacy of influential and timeless music.
