Bill Haley and His Comets were an American rock and roll band formed in 1952. They are credited with helping to popularize rock and roll music in the 1950s. Bill Haley, the lead singer and guitarist, was known for his energetic performances and distinctive vocal style. The band's breakthrough hit came with the release of "Rock Around the Clock" in 1954, which became one of the biggest rock and roll hits of all time, reaching number one on the Billboard charts.


The band continued to have success throughout the 1950s with hits like "Shake, Rattle and Roll" and "See You Later, Alligator." Bill Haley and His Comets were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
