Bill Haley and His Comets were an American rock and roll band formed in 1952. They are considered one of the pioneering groups of the genre, known for their upbeat sound and energetic performances. The band's frontman, Bill Haley, was born in 1925 and became one of the first white musicians to bring rock and roll to a mainstream audience in the 1950s.
The group is best known for their hit songs "Rock Around the Clock" and "Shake, Rattle and Roll," which are considered classics of the rock and roll era. Bill Haley and His Comets were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, in recognition of their influence on the development of rock music. Despite lineup changes over the years, the band continued to perform and record music until Haley's death in 1981.
