Bill Withers was an American singer-songwriter who was born on July 4, 1938, in Slab Fork, West Virginia. Withers is best known for his soulful and emotive music, with hits such as "Lean on Me," "Ain't No Sunshine," and "Lovely Day." He began his music career relatively late, releasing his debut album "Just As I Am" in 1971 at the age of 33.


Throughout his career, Withers won three Grammy Awards and was nominated for six more. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. Withers' music continues to be celebrated for its timeless quality and poignant lyrics that resonate with audiences around the world. Despite retiring from the music industry in the mid-1980s, Bill Withers' influence can still be felt in the world of soul and R&B music today. Withers passed away on March 30, 2020, at the age of 81.
