Bill Withers was an American singer-songwriter and musician, born on July 4, 1938, in Slab Fork, West Virginia. He was best known for his soulful and heartfelt songs that often reflected on the experiences of everyday people. Withers began his music career relatively late in life, releasing his debut album "Just As I Am" in 1971 at the age of 33. His most famous songs include "Lean on Me," "Ain't No Sunshine," and "Lovely Day."


Withers received critical acclaim for his music, earning three Grammy Awards during his career. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. Despite his success, Withers was known for his humble and down-to-earth personality, and he eventually retired from music in the mid-1980s to focus on a quieter life away from the spotlight.
