Bill Withers was an American singer-songwriter known for his soulful voice and hits such as "Lean on Me," "Ain't No Sunshine," and "Lovely Day." Born on July 4, 1938, in Slab Fork, West Virginia, Withers began his music career later in life, releasing his debut album "Just As I Am" at the age of 33. Despite his relatively short music career, Withers left a lasting impact on the music industry with his heartfelt lyrics and smooth vocals.


Withers was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015 and received three Grammy Awards during his career. He retired from music in the mid-1980s but his songs have remained popular and influential, with artists from various genres sampling and covering his work. Withers passed away on March 30, 2020, leaving behind a legacy as a soul music icon.
