Billy J. Kramer With The Dakotas was a British pop music group active in the 1960s. The group was fronted by singer Billy J. Kramer, born William Howard Ashton in Bootle, England. They were one of the many acts managed by Brian Epstein, who also managed The Beatles. The Dakotas were the backing band for Billy J. Kramer and were named after the Native American Sioux tribe.


The group achieved success with several hit singles in the UK and the US, including "Bad to Me," "Little Children," and "Do You Want to Know a Secret." They were known for their clean-cut image and catchy pop tunes, which appealed to a wide audience during the British Invasion of the 1960s. Billy J. Kramer With The Dakotas were considered part of the Merseybeat sound that emerged from Liverpool, alongside bands like The Beatles and Gerry and the Pacemakers.
