Billy Preston was an American musician and songwriter, known for his skills as a keyboard player and his soulful voice. He was born on September 2, 1946, in Houston, Texas, and began playing the piano at a young age. Preston gained fame in the 1960s and 1970s for his work as a session musician, collaborating with artists such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Eric Clapton.


Preston released several successful solo albums, including "I Wrote a Simple Song" and "Music Is My Life," and is best known for his hit singles "Will It Go Round in Circles" and "Nothing from Nothing." He also had a successful career as a touring musician, performing with artists like Ray Charles and Sly and the Family Stone. Billy Preston was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. He passed away on June 6, 2006, at the age of 59.
