Billy Stewart was an American rhythm and blues singer and pianist who gained fame in the 1960s. He was born on March 24, 1937, in Washington, D.C. Stewart was known for his unique vocal style, which combined a smooth, soulful delivery with energetic vocal improvisations and scat singing. He signed with Chess Records in 1956 and released several singles, including his biggest hit, "I Do Love You," which reached number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1965.


Stewart's career was tragically cut short when he died in a car accident on January 17, 1970, at the age of 32. Despite his untimely death, his music continues to be celebrated for its distinctive sound and influence on the soul and R&B genres. Billy Stewart's legacy lives on through his recordings, which showcase his remarkable talent and unique vocal abilities.
