Billy Stewart was an American rhythm and blues singer and pianist. He was born on March 24, 1937, in Washington, D.C. Stewart began his music career in the 1950s, gaining popularity for his unique vocal style that combined gospel, R&B, and rock influences. He released several singles and albums throughout the 1960s, with his most well-known song being "Summertime," a jazzy rendition of the classic tune from Porgy and Bess.
Stewart's career was tragically cut short when he died in a car accident on January 17, 1970, at the age of 32. Despite his untimely death, Billy Stewart's music continues to be celebrated for its soulful vocals and energetic performances, influencing generations of musicians in the R&B and soul genres.
