Billy Stewart was an American rhythm and blues singer and pianist, born on March 24, 1937, in Washington, D.C. He is best known for his unique vocal style, characterized by his high-pitched, improvisational "scat" singing. Stewart began his music career in the late 1950s, signing with Chess Records in 1956 and releasing his first single in 1957. He gained popularity in the early 1960s with hits like "I Do Love You" and "Sitting In The Park."


Stewart's career was tragically cut short when he died in a car accident on January 17, 1970, at the age of 32. Despite his untimely death, Billy Stewart's music continues to be influential and is celebrated for its soulful and energetic performances, earning him a place in the pantheon of R&B greats.
