Billy Vaughn (1919-1991) was an American singer, multi-instrumentalist, orchestra leader, and producer who was best known for his work with his orchestra. He was born in Kentucky and began his music career as a pianist for the Hilltoppers, a popular vocal group in the 1950s. Vaughn went on to form his orchestra and became famous for his easy listening and orchestral pop music.
Billy Vaughn And His Orchestra had a string of hits in the 1950s and 1960s, with their signature sound characterized by lush arrangements and a smooth, melodic style. Some of their most popular songs include "Sail Along Silvery Moon," "A Swingin' Safari," and "Melody of Love." Vaughn's orchestra was known for its instrumental covers of popular songs, as well as original compositions.
