B.J. Thomas was an American singer best known for his hits in the 1960s and 1970s. He was born on August 7, 1942, in Hugo, Oklahoma, and grew up in Houston, Texas. Thomas achieved mainstream success with his cover of the Hank Williams song "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry," which reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1966.


Thomas is perhaps best known for his Grammy-winning hit song "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head," which was featured in the 1969 film "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid." The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Throughout his career, Thomas recorded numerous albums and singles across various genres, including pop, country, and gospel. He continued to perform and record music until his passing on May 29, 2021, in Arlington, Texas.
