B.J. Thomas was an American singer best known for his hit songs in the 1960s and 1970s. He was born on August 7, 1942, in Hugo, Oklahoma, and raised in Houston, Texas. Thomas achieved mainstream success with his cover of the Hank Williams song "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" in 1966, which reached the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.


One of Thomas's most well-known songs is "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head," which was featured in the film "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1970. Throughout his career, Thomas recorded a mix of pop, country, and gospel music, earning him several Grammy Awards and a loyal fan base. He continued to perform and record music up until his passing on May 29, 2021, leaving behind a legacy of timeless hits.
