B.J. Thomas, born Billy Joe Thomas, was an American singer best known for his hit songs in the 1960s and 1970s. He was born on August 7, 1942, in Hugo, Oklahoma, and raised in Houston, Texas. Thomas' career took off with his cover of the Hank Williams song "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" in 1966.


His most famous songs include "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" from the movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," which won an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1970, and "Hooked on a Feeling." Thomas was a versatile artist, with hits in various genres including pop, country, and gospel. He continued to perform and record music throughout his career, releasing over 30 albums and winning five Grammy Awards. B.J. Thomas passed away on May 29, 2021, at the age of 78 after battling lung cancer.
