Artist Bio:
Blue Cheer was an American rock band formed in 1967 in San Francisco, California. They are considered one of the pioneers of heavy metal music and are known for their loud, distorted sound. The band's original lineup consisted of guitarist Leigh Stephens, bassist/vocalist Dickie Peterson, and drummer Paul Whaley. Blue Cheer gained popularity with their cover of Eddie Cochran's "Summertime Blues," which reached number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1968.

The band released several albums throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, including their debut album "Vincebus Eruptum" in 1968. Blue Cheer went through various lineup changes over the years, with Peterson being the only constant member until his passing in 2009. Despite their influence on the heavy metal genre, Blue Cheer never achieved mainstream success but are recognized as an important band in the development of heavy rock and metal music.
