Bobby Bland, born Robert Calvin Bland, was an American singer known for his unique blend of blues, soul, and R&B music. He was born on January 27, 1930, in Rosemark, Tennessee, and passed away on June 23, 2013, in Germantown, Tennessee. Bland began his music career in the 1950s and gained popularity with hits such as "Farther Up the Road" and "Turn On Your Love Light."


Bland was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1981 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992. He was known for his smooth and powerful voice, often compared to that of his contemporaries such as Ray Charles and Sam Cooke. Bland's music influenced generations of musicians and continues to be celebrated for its emotional depth and soulful delivery.
