Bobby Bland, born Robert Calvin Bland, was an American blues and R&B singer who was born on January 27, 1930, in Rosemark, Tennessee. He was known for his smooth vocal style and powerful delivery, which earned him the nickname "The Lion of the Blues." Bland began his music career in the 1950s and released numerous successful singles, including "Farther Up the Road," "Turn On Your Love Light," and "Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City."
Throughout his career, Bland received critical acclaim and was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1981 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992. He continued to perform and record music well into the 2000s, leaving a lasting legacy in the world of blues and R&B. Bobby Bland passed away on June 23, 2013, in Germantown, Tennessee, at the age of 83.
