Bobby Bland was an American rhythm and blues singer who was born on January 27, 1930, in Rosemark, Tennessee, and passed away on June 23, 2013, in Germantown, Tennessee. He was known for his powerful voice and smooth vocal delivery, earning him the nickname the "Lion of the Blues."
Bland began his music career in the 1950s and rose to fame with hits such as "Turn On Your Love Light" and "I Pity the Fool." He was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1981 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992. Bland's music influenced many artists and he is considered one of the greatest blues and soul singers of all time.
