Bobby Bland, born Robert Calvin Bland, was an American blues and soul singer known for his smooth vocal style and emotive performances. He was born on January 27, 1930, in Rosemark, Tennessee, and passed away on June 23, 2013, in Germantown, Tennessee. Bland began his music career in the 1950s and achieved success with hits like "Farther Up the Road," "Turn On Your Love Light," and "Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City."
Bland was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1981 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992. He was also honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997. Throughout his career, Bland collaborated with other legendary artists, including B.B. King and Van Morrison, and his music continues to influence generations of musicians in the blues and soul genres.
