Bobby Bland, born Robert Calvin Bland on January 27, 1930, was an American singer who played a significant role in the development of the blues and R&B music genres. He was known for his smooth, soulful voice and powerful stage presence. Bland's career spanned over six decades, during which he released numerous hit songs and albums.


Bland's most famous songs include "Turn on Your Love Light," "Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City," and "Farther Up the Road." He was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1981 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992. Bobby Bland passed away on June 23, 2013, leaving behind a lasting legacy as one of the most influential blues and R&B artists of his time.
