Bobby Bland, born Robert Calvin Bland, was an American blues and R&B singer known for his smooth vocals and powerful stage presence. He was born on January 27, 1930, in Rosemark, Tennessee, and passed away on June 23, 2013, in Germantown, Tennessee. Bland began his music career in the 1950s and was influenced by artists like B.B. King and Sam Cooke. He released numerous hit songs throughout his career, including "Turn on Your Love Light," "I Pity the Fool," and "Stormy Monday Blues."


Bobby Bland was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1981 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992. He was also known for his collaborations with other musicians, such as his duets with fellow singer and label mate, Junior Parker. Bland's music continues to be celebrated for its emotional depth and impact on the blues and R&B genres.
