Bobby Freeman was an American singer, songwriter, and record producer who was active in the 1950s and 1960s. He was born on June 13, 1940, in San Francisco, California, and began his music career at a young age. Freeman is best known for his hit song "Do You Want to Dance," which was released in 1958 and reached the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song became a rock and roll standard and was later covered by numerous artists, including The Beach Boys and The Ramones.
In addition to "Do You Want to Dance," Bobby Freeman had other successful singles, such as "C'mon and Swim" in 1964. He was a pioneer of the dance-craze music that emerged in the early 1960s. Freeman continued to perform and record music throughout his career, and he was inducted into the West Coast Blues Hall of Fame in 2011. Bobby Freeman passed away on January 23, 2017, leaving behind a legacy as a talented and influential figure in the early days of rock and roll.
