Bobby Vee was an American pop singer who rose to fame in the early 1960s. He was born on April 30, 1943, in Fargo, North Dakota, as Robert Thomas Velline. Vee's big break came in 1959 when he filled in for Buddy Holly at a concert after Holly's tragic death in a plane crash. This led to a recording contract with Liberty Records, where he released a string of hits including "Take Good Care of My Baby" and "Run to Him."


Vee's music was characterized by his smooth vocals and catchy melodies, which helped him achieve success on the Billboard charts. He continued to record and perform throughout the 1960s and 1970s, with over 40 singles making it onto the charts. Vee's music had a significant influence on the pop music scene of the time, and he remains a beloved figure in the history of American music.
