Bobby Vee was an American pop singer who rose to fame in the 1960s. He was born Robert Thomas Velline on April 30, 1943, in Fargo, North Dakota. Vee's career took off after a tragic event when he was chosen to fill in for Buddy Holly at a concert in Moorhead, Minnesota, following Holly's untimely death in a plane crash. This opportunity led to Vee's first hit single, "Suzie Baby," in 1959.
Throughout the 1960s, Bobby Vee enjoyed a string of hits including "Take Good Care of My Baby," "Run to Him," and "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes." He was known for his smooth, pop-oriented sound and became a popular teen idol during that era. Vee continued to perform and record music for several decades, earning a loyal following of fans before his passing on October 24, 2016, at the age of 73.
