Bobby Vee, born Robert Thomas Velline on April 30, 1943 in Fargo, North Dakota, was an American pop and rock singer who rose to fame in the early 1960s. Vee's career began when he filled in for Buddy Holly at a concert after Holly's tragic death in 1959. He went on to release several hit songs, including "Take Good Care of My Baby," "Rubber Ball," and "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes."
Throughout his career, Bobby Vee had 38 songs make it onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with 10 of them reaching the top 20. He also toured extensively and performed in various countries around the world. Vee continued to record and perform until he retired from music in the early 2010s due to health issues. Bobby Vee passed away on October 24, 2016, leaving behind a legacy as a successful and influential pop music artist.
