Bobby Vee was an American pop singer who rose to fame in the early 1960s. He was born on April 30, 1943, in Fargo, North Dakota, as Robert Thomas Velline. Vee's career took off after he filled in for Buddy Holly at a concert in Moorhead, Minnesota, following Holly's tragic death in a plane crash in 1959. This led to a recording contract with Liberty Records and a string of hits, including "Take Good Care of My Baby," "Devil or Angel," and "Run to Him."
Vee had a successful music career throughout the 1960s, with multiple top 10 hits on the Billboard charts. He continued to perform and record music into the 2000s, with a total of 38 singles reaching the Billboard Hot 100 chart during his career. Bobby Vee passed away on October 24, 2016, at the age of 73, leaving behind a legacy as a talented and influential figure in the pop music scene of the 1960s.
