Bobby Vee was an American pop singer who rose to fame in the early 1960s. He was born Robert Thomas Velline on April 30, 1943, in Fargo, North Dakota. Vee's career took off after he filled in for Buddy Holly at a concert in Moorhead, Minnesota, following Holly's tragic death in a plane crash in 1959. Vee's hits included "Take Good Care of My Baby," "Devil or Angel," and "Run to Him," which all reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Vee continued to record music and perform throughout his career, earning a total of 38 chart hits in the United States. He toured internationally and remained a popular live performer. Bobby Vee passed away on October 24, 2016, at the age of 73 in Rogers, Minnesota, leaving behind a legacy as a talented and successful pop artist of the 1960s.
