Bobby Womack was an American singer-songwriter and musician, born on March 4, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was known for his soulful voice and his ability to blend various genres such as R&B, soul, rock, and gospel. Womack started his music career in the 1950s as a member of the gospel group The Womack Brothers, alongside his siblings. In the 1960s, he became a successful solo artist, releasing hits like "Across 110th Street" and "If You Think You're Lonely Now."


Womack's career was marked by both critical acclaim and personal struggles, including issues with substance abuse. Despite these challenges, he continued to produce music that resonated with audiences around the world. In 2009, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Bobby Womack passed away on June 27, 2014, leaving behind a legacy as a pioneer of soul music and a talented musician.
