Bonnie Guitar, born Bonnie Buckingham, was an American country music singer, songwriter, and record producer. She was born on March 25, 1923, in Seattle, Washington, and began her music career in the 1950s. Guitar was one of the first female country music singers to produce her own music and run her own record label. She achieved success with her hit songs "Dark Moon" and "Mister Fire Eyes" in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
In addition to her singing career, Bonnie Guitar also worked behind the scenes in the music industry as a record producer. She produced records for artists such as Jim Reeves and The Fleetwoods. Guitar was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2021 in the category of Recording and/or Touring Musician Active Prior to 1980. She passed away on January 13, 2019, leaving behind a legacy as a pioneering woman in the country music industry.
