Bonnie Pointer was born on July 11, 1950, in Oakland, California, and passed away on June 8, 2020, in Los Angeles, California. She was an American singer and songwriter who was best known as a member of the popular R&B and disco group, The Pointer Sisters. Bonnie was one of the founding members of the group, which also included her sisters Anita, Ruth, and June.


Bonnie Pointer left The Pointer Sisters in 1977 to pursue a solo career, signing with Motown Records. She released several successful albums as a solo artist, including her self-titled debut album in 1978, which featured the hit single "Heaven Must Have Sent You." Throughout her career, Bonnie Pointer received Grammy Award nominations and continued to perform and record music. She made significant contributions to the music industry, particularly in the genres of R&B and disco.
