Bonnie Pointer was an American singer and songwriter, best known as a founding member of the popular R&B and disco group, The Pointer Sisters. Born Patricia Eva Pointer on July 11, 1950, in Oakland, California, she began her music career in the early 1970s. The Pointer Sisters achieved commercial success with hits like "I'm So Excited," "Jump (For My Love)," and "Neutron Dance."
Bonnie Pointer left the group in 1978 to pursue a solo career, signing with Motown Records. She released several albums as a solo artist, including her self-titled debut album in 1978, which featured the hit single "Heaven Must Have Sent You." Throughout her career, Bonnie Pointer's soulful voice and energetic performances made her a beloved figure in the music industry. She passed away on June 8, 2020, at the age of 69.
