Artist Bio:
Booker T. & The MG's were an American instrumental R&B/funk band that was formed in 1962 in Memphis, Tennessee. The band consisted of Booker T. Jones (organ, piano), Steve Cropper (guitar), Donald "Duck" Dunn (bass), and Al Jackson Jr. (drums). They were the house band for Stax Records and played on numerous hit records for the label, including songs by Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, and Sam & Dave.


Booker T. & The MG's are best known for their 1962 hit instrumental single "Green Onions," which reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band was highly influential in the development of soul music and the Memphis soul sound. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. Booker T. & The MG's continued to perform and record music until the early 2000s when the band members pursued individual projects.
