Artist Bio:
Booker T. & The MG's were an American instrumental R&B/funk band that was formed in 1962. The band consisted of Booker T. Jones (organ, piano), Steve Cropper (guitar), Donald "Duck" Dunn (bass), and Al Jackson Jr. (drums). They were one of the first racially integrated rock bands, with two white members and two black members, at a time when racial segregation was still prevalent in the United States.
The band was known for their tight, groovy instrumentals and became one of the most influential groups in the history of soul music. They were the house band for Stax Records and played on numerous hit records by artists such as Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, and Sam & Dave. Booker T. & The MG's also had their own hits, including the classic "Green Onions." They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.
