Brian Poole and The Tremeloes were a British band formed in 1958. The original lineup included Brian Poole as the lead vocalist, Rick Westwood on guitar, Alan Blakley on bass, Dave Munden on drums, and Alan Howard on guitar. They gained popularity in the early 1960s with their covers of American rock and roll songs.
In 1962, the band had a major hit with their cover of the Contours' "Do You Love Me," which reached number one on the UK Singles Chart. They continued to have success with hits like "Twist and Shout" and "Someone, Someone." In 1966, Brian Poole left the band to pursue a solo career, and the remaining members continued as The Tremeloes. The Tremeloes went on to have several hit singles, including "Silence is Golden," which reached number one on the UK Singles Chart in 1967.
