Artist Bio:
Bronski Beat was a British synthpop trio formed in 1983 by Jimmy Somerville, Steve Bronski, and Larry Steinbachek. They are best known for their hit single "Smalltown Boy," which was released in 1984 and became an anthem for the LGBTQ+ community. The song reached the top 10 in several countries and is considered a classic of 1980s pop music.

Aside from "Smalltown Boy," Bronski Beat also had other successful singles such as "Why?" and "Hit That Perfect Beat." The band's music often addressed themes of gay culture and social issues, making them pioneers in their advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights. Despite various lineup changes over the years, Bronski Beat continued to release music and tour until their final disbandment in the early 1990s. Their influence on the synthpop genre and their impact on LGBTQ+ representation in music continues to be celebrated today.
