Brook Benton was an American singer and songwriter born on September 19, 1931, in Lugoff, South Carolina. He was known for his smooth baritone voice, which he used to great effect in the genres of rhythm and blues, pop, and soul music. Benton first gained recognition in the late 1950s and early 1960s with hits like "It's Just a Matter of Time" and "Endlessly."
Throughout his career, Benton released numerous successful albums and singles, including collaborations with other notable artists such as Dinah Washington and Tony Joe White. He continued to record and perform until his death on April 9, 1988, in Queens, New York. Brook Benton's music remains popular today and continues to be appreciated for its emotional depth and soulful delivery.
