Brook Benton was an American singer and songwriter who was born on September 19, 1931, in Lugoff, South Carolina. He was known for his smooth baritone voice and his soulful rhythm and blues music style. Benton began his music career in the 1950s and achieved success in the 1960s with hits such as "Rainy Night in Georgia" and "Endlessly."


Throughout his career, Benton released numerous albums and singles that landed on the Billboard charts. He was also a prolific songwriter, penning songs for himself as well as for other artists. Benton's music was characterized by his emotive vocal delivery and his ability to convey deep emotions through his soulful performances. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. Brook Benton passed away on April 9, 1988, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the world of rhythm and blues music.
