He rose to fame in the late 1950s and 1960s with his smooth baritone voice and soulful style, becoming known for his hits such as "Rainy Night in Georgia" and "Endlessly." Benton's music spanned various genres, including rhythm and blues, pop, and soul, and he was a significant figure in the development of soul music.
