Artist Bio:
Brother Jack McDuff, born Eugene McDuffy on September 17, 1926, in Champaign, Illinois, was an American jazz organist and organ trio bandleader. McDuff was known for his distinctive playing style on the Hammond B-3 organ, incorporating blues, soul, and gospel influences into his music. He gained popularity in the 1960s with his soul-jazz recordings, often featuring tight-knit ensembles and funky grooves.


McDuff released numerous albums throughout his career, including "Brother Jack at the Jazz Workshop Live!" and "Tobacco Road," which are considered some of his most acclaimed works. He collaborated with prominent jazz musicians such as George Benson, Red Holloway, and Grant Green, further solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in the soul-jazz genre. McDuff's music continues to be celebrated for its soulful and energetic approach to jazz organ playing. He passed away on January 23, 2001.
