Brownstone was an American female R&B group that was formed in Los Angeles in 1994. The group consisted of three members: Nicci Gilbert, Charmayne Maxena "Maxee" Maxwell, and Monica "Mimi" Doby. Brownstone gained popularity in the mid-1990s with hits such as "If You Love Me" and "Grapevyne". Their debut album, "From the Bottom Up", was released in 1995 and received critical acclaim, earning them a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album.
The group's music was characterized by their soulful harmonies and powerful vocals, drawing influences from classic R&B and contemporary hip-hop. Despite their success, Brownstone disbanded in 1998. Tragically, Charmayne Maxena Maxwell passed away in 2015. Brownstone's music continues to be celebrated and remembered for its contribution to the R&B genre.
