Bruce Hornsby & The Range was an American band formed in 1984 in Virginia. The band was led by singer and pianist Bruce Hornsby, who had a unique style blending elements of rock, jazz, and bluegrass. Their debut album, "The Way It Is," was released in 1986 and featured the hit single of the same name, which addressed social issues such as racism and poverty. The album was a commercial success, reaching multi-platinum status and earning them a Grammy Award for Best New Artist.


Following the success of their debut album, Bruce Hornsby & The Range released two more albums before disbanding in 1990. Throughout their career, the band was known for their intricate musical arrangements and thoughtful lyrics, showcasing Hornsby's exceptional musicianship and songwriting skills. Hornsby continued to have a successful solo career after the band's breakup, collaborating with various artists and exploring different musical genres.
