Bruce Hornsby & The Range was an American rock band formed in 1984 in Williamsburg, Virginia. The band was led by singer and pianist Bruce Hornsby, who gained fame for his distinctive piano playing style and soulful vocals. The other members of the band included George Marinelli on guitar, Joe Puerta on bass, and John Molo on drums.
Bruce Hornsby & The Range released their debut album, "The Way It Is," in 1986, which included the hit singles "The Way It Is" and "Mandolin Rain." The album was a commercial success, reaching multi-platinum status and earning the band a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1987. The band continued to release music throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, before Hornsby embarked on a successful solo career.
