Buck Owens was an American musician and band leader known for his influential role in the development of the Bakersfield sound, a style of country music that emerged in the 1950s and 1960s. He was born on August 12, 1929, in Sherman, Texas, and passed away on March 25, 2006, in Bakersfield, California. Owens gained fame as the leader of the band The Buckaroos, which included musicians such as Don Rich, Doyle Holly, and Willie Cantu. The Buckaroos were known for their tight instrumental arrangements and Owens' distinctive vocals.


Together, Buck Owens and The Buckaroos achieved great success with hits like "Act Naturally," "Together Again," and "I've Got a Tiger by the Tail." Owens was also a co-host of the television show "Hee Haw" from 1969 to 1986, further solidifying his status as a country music icon. Throughout his career, Buck Owens won numerous awards, including multiple Grammy Awards and induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1996.
