Buffalo Springfield was a folk rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1966. The band was known for its politically charged lyrics and a sound that blended folk, rock, and country influences. The original lineup consisted of Stephen Stills, Neil Young, Richie Furay, Dewey Martin, and Bruce Palmer. They released three albums during their brief tenure from 1966 to 1968, with their self-titled debut album being the most successful.
Buffalo Springfield is best known for songs such as "For What It's Worth," which became an anthem for the 1960s counterculture movement. Despite their short-lived existence, Buffalo Springfield is considered one of the most influential bands of the 1960s, paving the way for the folk rock and country rock genres that emerged in the following decades. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
