Artist Bio:
Burl Ives was an American actor, writer, and folk singer, born on June 14, 1909, in Hunt City, Illinois, and passed away on April 14, 1995, in Anacortes, Washington. He was best known for his rich bass voice and his contributions to the folk music genre. Ives gained popularity in the 1940s and 1950s for his recordings of traditional folk songs, including "Blue Tail Fly" and "Big Rock Candy Mountain."


In addition to his music career, Burl Ives also had a successful acting career, appearing in numerous films and television shows. He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 1958 film "The Big Country." Ives is also remembered for his role as the narrator and voice of Sam the Snowman in the classic Christmas television special, "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer."
