Burl Ives was an American singer, actor, and folk music collector born on June 14, 1909, and passed away on April 14, 1995. He was known for his rich bass voice and his contributions to the American folk music scene. Ives was one of the first artists to bring traditional folk songs to a mainstream audience, helping to popularize the genre. He released numerous albums throughout his career, including "The Wayfaring Stranger" and "Burl Ives Sings."


In addition to his music career, Burl Ives also found success as an actor, appearing in films such as "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and "The Big Country," for which he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1959. He also lent his voice to the character of Sam the Snowman in the classic Christmas TV special "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer." Burl Ives left a lasting impact on both the music and film industries with his talent and contributions.
