B.W. Stevenson was an American singer and songwriter known for his contributions to the country and folk music genres. He was born on October 5, 1949, in Dallas, Texas, and began his music career in the late 1960s. Stevenson gained widespread recognition in the early 1970s with his hit single "My Maria," which reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1973. The song was later covered by the country duo Brooks & Dunn, achieving further success.


Throughout his career, Stevenson released several albums, including "B.W. Stevenson" (1971), "Lead Free" (1972), and "My Maria" (1973). He continued to perform and record music until his untimely death on April 28, 1988, at the age of 38. Stevenson's music is remembered for its heartfelt lyrics, soulful vocals, and his ability to blend elements of country, folk, and rock music into his distinctive sound.
