Carl Dobkins, Jr. was an American singer and songwriter born on January 13, 1941, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is best known for his hit song "My Heart is an Open Book," which reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1959. Dobkins was signed to Decca Records and had a brief but successful career during the late 1950s and early 1960s.
In addition to "My Heart is an Open Book," Dobkins released several other singles, including "Lucky Devil" and "If You Don't Want My Lovin'." He continued to perform and record music throughout the 1960s and 1970s, although he never achieved the same level of commercial success as he did with his early hits. Carl Dobkins, Jr. passed away on April 8, 2008, but his music continues to be cherished by fans of 1950s rock and roll.
